FGM

Went to a swapshop the other night in order to help raise money for the 28TooMany charity. It was an evening dedicated to swapping unwanted clothes as well as raising awareness of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) and money for the charity. FGM is still practised in 28 countries within Africa in order to promote cultural identity, religion and tradition, to improve marriage prospects and preserve virginity, chastity and family honour.

As you can imagine it is an extremely painful and unnecessary tradition which can cause major health problems. Please go and check out the website to find out more and donate a few quid. You could even hold a swap shop yourself!!! With thanks to my friend's sister we collectively raised over £500 which is good going for a small group of ladies. I managed to bag myself a TOTALLY TROPICAL pinny for a fiver!
